Following Amazon’s announcement that it will no longer be possible to download and backup Kindle books from February 26th, I have now been through my list of Kindle books, downloaded those not yet downloaded and saved them in Calibre.
I have also brought my Kobo Libra H2O out of retirement. I’ll be returning to the Kobo store. I bough the Libra a few years back wanting to move away from Amazon. However, I returned to Amazon as I preferred the reading experience on Kindle.
My return to Kobo has been set with some problems, possibly some of the ones that made me move back to Amazon? Here is my list of Kobo problems:
- My Libra H2O won’t connect to the Kobo store
- The Kobo Mac app will not allow me to sign into my Kobo account
- I am also unable to sign into the Kobo website
I think that the Kobo app is a front end to the website, and so I am hoping that if I can solve signing into the app or website will solve signing into the other? However, so far I am not closer to solutions.
Searching online has produced a possible answer to the Libra not connecting to the Kobo store. That appears to necessitate a reset to factory settings. I shall try that.
However, if any Kobo users have experienced similar problems and have some possible solutions, I’d love to hear about them. Thank you 🙏
Update: Not the most ideal solution, but I have opened a new Kobo account, signing in through Apple. It was as though the Kobo servers were not good at signing in. The ”not idea” part of this is that I have lost some points that I had earned from buying books from the Kobo store, not a lot, but some nonetheless. Secondly, I prefer having an email sign in instead of via a third party. Just my personal preference. Thankfully my Kobo books are all in Calibre, so I still have them. I also still have my old Kobo account, and will try from time to time to gain access to it.
